Vietnam's ST25 rice is honored as "World's Best Rice" for the third time

(Dan Tri) - Vietnam's ST25 rice and Cambodia's Phka Romdoul rice jointly won the first prize of "World's Best Rice" 2025 in Cambodia, marking the third time Vietnamese rice has been honored in the international arena.

On November 9, Ho Quang Tri Enterprise announced that Vietnam's ST25 rice, along with Cambodia's Phka Romdoul rice, had won first prize at the " World's Best Rice" contest in 2025. The contest was part of the 17th Global Rice Trade Conference organized by The Rice Trader (TRT) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from November 7 to 9.

Thus, Vietnam's ST25 rice has won first prize at the "World's Best Rice" contest three times (the previous two times in 2019 and 2023). This is an outstanding achievement, affirming the leading position of ST25 rice and the Vietnamese rice industry on the world map.

Also at the event, Ho Quang Tri Private Enterprise - the producer of Ong Cua ST25 rice - shared about "The journey of researching and developing high-quality ST fragrant rice varieties over the past 30 years and the positive impact of the World's Best Rice Award, the spillover effects from helping to increase farmers' income.

ST25 rice is the result of many years of research, selection and improvement of varieties by Engineer - Hero of Labor Ho Quang Cua and his colleagues.

Since the 1990s, Mr. Ho Quang Cua's research group has begun the work of crossbreeding new rice varieties under the ST brand ( Soc Trang ). Over the years, a series of ST rice varieties have been born such as ST3, ST5, ST10, ST20, ST24...

ST25 is a hybrid of many different rice varieties, inheriting the outstanding advantages of the parent varieties. ST25 rice grains are long and slender, clear white, not silvery; when cooked, the rice is moderately sticky, fragrant with pandan leaves and young rice, and has a rich sweet taste.

In particular, ST25 rice still retains its stickiness and delicious flavor even when cold. These superior characteristics have helped ST25 conquer the taste of domestic consumers and international culinary experts.

Previously, in 2019, at the "World's Best Rice" contest held in the Philippines, ST25 rice surpassed many strong competitors from countries with long-standing rice growing traditions, winning the championship title - the first time Vietnamese rice achieved the highest title at an international competition.

By 2023, ST25 continued to affirm its position when it once again won first prize at the competition organized by The Rice Trader, also in the Philippines.
