Urgently clearing land for Lao Cai - Hanoi

"Clear work and clear responsibilities" - this is the Prime Minister's request to localities and Vietnam Electricity Group in the work of site clearance for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project. Up to this point, many localities have proactively counted, agreed on compensation plans, and built resettlement areas. This is one of the decisive factors for construction units and investors to proactively implement construction, bringing the project to the finish line according to plan.

Every day, the officials of Quy Mong commune, Lao Cai province go to each household to count and mobilize people to hand over land for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project. Steadfast in propaganda, in just over a month, the people in Tan Viet village, Quy Mong commune agreed to hand over land for the project.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huyen - Tan Viet village, Quy Mong commune, Lao Cai province confided: "We people do not worry because this is the policy".

With the largest land acquisition rate and the most affected households, Lao Cai province has, up to now, simultaneously deployed all 35 resettlement areas to serve the project. This year, the resettlement areas will be basically completed.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - Deputy Director of Lao Cai Province Construction Investment Management Board said: "When the project started, people were concerned about many issues, such as compensation policies, resettlement, jobs... All of these issues were communicated, mobilized, and explained to the people by the local government."

Mr. Nguyen The Phuoc - Permanent Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee commented: "Applying the law in the most beneficial way for the people according to the law, ensuring the stable life of people in the area of land clearance is the key factor for us to be able to finalize the land to serve the project".

The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway has a total length of about 420 km. The project passes through 6 localities with a total investment of more than 200,000 billion VND. According to the plan, on December 19 this year, the project will officially be deployed simultaneously.

Land clearance must always come first, so this work will be separated for the 6 localities where the project passes through. In addition, the relocation of lines over 100 KV will be assigned to the Electricity Corporation. Clearly defining responsibilities and linking them to the progress of land clearance will be a prerequisite for the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project to be completed in 2030.

Mr. Ho Sy Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry commented: "When this project comes into operation, it will lead to the development of each locality. We will have synchronous projects such as industrial parks and logistics zones."

With a maximum speed of 160 km/h, the railway will shorten the travel time from Lach Huyen port, Hai Phong to Lao Cai province border by more than half compared to the current road route. More reasonable costs, with accurate delivery time will be the conditions for the two countries to promote trade, associated with sustainable border economic growth.
