TASS quoted Mr. Miller as saying that the additional gas supply to Hungary this year amounted to 1.3 billion cubic meters.

"Gazprom has an agreement to continuously supply additional volumes to Hungary during the coming winter," General Director Miller revealed.

In addition, Gazprom will supply China with an additional 600 million cubic meters of gas this year, in addition to its contractual obligations.

According to him, the daily demand from China is also higher than the contracted level. Gazprom regularly supplies additional volumes to the Chinese market. This has been going on for many years, and this year the figure could increase by 600 million cubic meters of gas.

Gazprom is looking to make up for the loss of most of its market in Europe since tensions with Ukraine erupted, largely due to an explosion that severely damaged the Nord Stream pipeline under the Baltic Sea in 2022.

Investigations have yet to determine who is responsible.

Hungary is seen as a key player in a decision in December on whether to open EU accession talks with Ukraine, which requires unanimous support from the bloc's 27 members.
