According to records, the price of beef cattle and breeding cattle in the province has decreased sharply. According to some cattle farmers, the selling price of beef cattle and breeding cattle at this time has decreased by about 30% - 50% compared to more than 2 years ago. The selling price is constantly at a low level, causing many difficulties for farmers.
According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture , the total herd of cattle in the province is currently about 120 thousand. In recent times, grass-fed cattle farming, especially cattle farming, has developed strongly in the eastern districts of the province. However, in recent times, the price of cattle has decreased quite sharply.
Mr. Do Thanh Truyen’s family (Long Binh commune, Go Cong Tay district) raises 5 beef and breeding cows. Recently, his family sold a 6-month-old cow for 11.5 million VND. This selling price is about half of the previous price.
Mr. Truyen said: “Excluding the cost of food, straw, grass, etc., this selling price makes the farmer break even or lose money, not including the cost of care. Cow farmers are facing a very difficult time.”
Mr. Pham Dac Khiem (Dong Son commune, Go Cong Tay district) said that his family is currently raising more than 25 breeding cows and beef cattle. Compared to more than 2 years ago, the selling price of beef cattle has decreased by about 10 million VND/cow. The selling price has decreased by nearly half compared to before.
“In addition to the sharp decrease in selling prices compared to before, the time it takes to raise cattle is also longer than before for traders to buy. This affects the profits of the breeders.
Faced with the current difficult situation of beef cattle farming, I am switching to dairy farming," Mr. Khiem added.
