Live pig prices fluctuated between 66,000 and 76,000 VND/kg, a large difference between provinces, reflecting a clear differentiation in supply and demand. In general, the North continued to decrease prices in many localities, while the Central Highlands and the South remained stable.

In the Northern region, the price of live pigs on April 26, 2025 fluctuated from 66,000 to 67,000 VND/kg. Notably, Ninh Binh had the sharpest decrease with a decrease of 2,000 VND/kg, down to 66,000 VND/kg. The main downward trend in the North reflects abundant supply and consumption demand that has not shown signs of strong recovery.

In the Central Highlands, the price of live pigs today is stable, ranging from 67,000 to 75,000 VND/kg. Lam Dong and Binh Thuan lead the region with the highest price of 75,000 VND/kg, followed by Dak Lak and Ninh Thuan (73,000 VND/kg), Binh Dinh reaches 71,000 VND/kg, while provinces such as Quang Binh, Hue, Khanh Hoa maintain the level of 70,000 VND/kg. News, forecast of future pig prices

The price of live pigs today, April 26, 2025 in Dong Nai fluctuated from 73,000 - 75,000 VND/kg, an increase of nearly 20,000 VND/kg compared to the same period in 2024, reflecting pressure from scarce supply. The livestock industry, which accounts for 61% of the region's agricultural value, is facing many challenges such as disease, reduced herd size and high feed costs. In the Mekong Delta, a similar situation puts great pressure on livestock farmers to maintain production.

According to the Dong Nai Livestock Association, the total pig herd in the province by the end of March 2025 was only over 1.9 million, down 8% compared to the same period last year. The main reason was the epidemic that caused more than 1,300 pigs to be destroyed, affecting herd growth and herd restoration. Mr. Nguyen Van A, representative of the association, said: "Today's live pig price is higher than every year, but farmers are still facing difficulties due to increased input costs and high disease risks."

In the Mekong Delta, provinces such as An Giang and Dong Thap also recorded a decrease in supply, pushing the price of live pigs today to remain high. The cost of animal feed increased by 5% compared to 2024, along with African swine fever, forcing many small-scale farmers to reduce their scale. Herd management and relocation of farms out of residential areas also put additional pressure on the supply chain.

In response, Dong Nai and neighboring provinces are strengthening disease control and supply chain management. Localities are stepping up quarantine, monitoring transportation and slaughter, and applying biosecurity in livestock farming. Some technological solutions such as herd management software and online declaration are being deployed to trace the origin and ensure the quality of live pigs.

Authorities are also focusing on checking vaccinations, counting the total herd, and inspecting circulation points. “Disease control and optimizing management are key factors to stabilize supply,” said a livestock industry expert. However, with increased demand during the holidays and limited supply, the price of live pigs today, April 26, 2025, may continue to stay high.

In general, the livestock industry in Dong Nai and the Mekong Delta is facing many internal challenges. Solutions on disease management, traceability and management technology are expected to support livestock farmers to overcome difficulties and stabilize the market in the coming time.
