Latest pig price news
According to information from the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, during a recent working trip to China, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien and the Vietnamese delegation had the opportunity to visit and learn about the high-tech pig farming model at Muyuan Group.
Muyuan Group is known as one of the world's leading companies in the field of modern and circular pig farming. This is a valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese livestock industry to access the most advanced technologies, while opening up the possibility of practical cooperation with strategic partners in the region, especially in the context of the livestock industry undergoing a period of strong transformation.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien shared about the impressive development of the pig farming industry in Vietnam over the past 15 years. From a scattered farming industry, Vietnam has risen to 5th place globally in terms of total pig herd, 6th in output and 4th in pork consumption. In the period 2020-2024, livestock farming is identified as the fastest and most stable growing sector in agriculture, contributing nearly 30% to the GDP value of the agricultural sector and 5% to the national GDP.
Outstanding achievements such as the successful production of the world's first vaccine against African swine fever and the construction of a closed food chain "AZ Food" from a high-rise farming model have demonstrated remarkable progress in science and technology in this field.
In Vietnam, the high-rise pig farming model has been developing since 2016 and is expanding rapidly. The promulgation of TCVN 14209:2024 on high-rise pig farms has created a favorable legal framework for large corporations such as BAF Vietnam and Xuan Thien to deploy this model on a large scale. However, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien also emphasized the importance of strictly managing planning, design and operation to control risks related to epidemics, environmental pollution, livestock density and ensure animal welfare in this model.
