Fresh paddy and rice export prices fell sharply on September 13.

(GLO)- After many days of stability, the domestic fresh rice price today (September 13) decreased by 200-300 VND/kg. In the export market, the price of Vietnamese rice also decreased sharply due to weak demand and the impact of the Philippines' import policy.

Accordingly, after a decrease of 300 VND/kg, the price of IR 50404 rice is at 5,000-5,100 VND/kg. Dai Thom 8 rice decreased by 200 VND/kg, fluctuating at 5,700-5,800 VND/kg.

OM rice varieties decreased by 200 VND/kg, currently OM 18 rice is purchased at around 5,600-5,800 VND/kg, OM 5451 fluctuates at 5,900-6,000 VND/kg, OM 308 is at 5,700-5,900 VND/kg.

At retail markets, prices of all types of rice remain stable. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of 28,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice 22,000 VND/kg; regular rice fluctuates at 13,000-14,000 VND/kg; long-grain fragrant rice fluctuates at 20,000-22,000 VND/kg.

In addition, Nang Hoa rice is at 21,000 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is priced at 20,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice fluctuates at 16,000-18,000 VND/kg; common white rice is at 16,000 VND/kg; Soc rice usually fluctuates at 16,000-17,000 VND/kg; Thai Soc rice is priced at 20,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice is priced at 22,000 VND/kg.

In the export market, Thai rice prices rose to a three-week high thanks to a stronger baht, while Vietnamese rice was under pressure due to slowing demand.

According to the Vietnam Food Association, the current price of 5% broken fragrant rice ranges from 450-455 USD/ton; 25% broken rice ranges from 367 USD/ton; 100% broken rice ranges from 319-323 USD/ton; and Jasmine rice ranges from 494-498 USD/ton.
