The fake Fanpage named “ Son La General Hospital” uses the exact logo and photos of Son La Provincial General Hospital, copying almost all the content and form of the official fanpage, making it difficult for users to distinguish between real and fake. The fake advertising page even has more likes and followers than the official Fanpage.
On this page, the subjects posted pictures of sick children in pitiful condition, along with leading posts to call on people to transfer money to personal accounts. In the comment section under each post calling for support from these fake fanpages, each post will have many comments sharing the situation of the sick children, including accounts sending money transfer receipts to create trust for viewers. This trick helps the scammers avoid suspicion, divide the accounts receiving money, prolong the scam, making it difficult for authorities to investigate.
In fact, after accessing the posts calling for donations from fake hospital fanpages, many people were "moved with compassion" and transferred their names to those accounts. After the posts attracted enough attention and viewers started transferring money, the scammers would create a new page and change the name and account number, making viewers think this was a different situation and continue to donate.
Immediately after receiving the request for support from the Provincial General Hospital and reviewing information on social networks, the Press and Publication Management Department (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) discovered two websites impersonating the Son La Provincial General Hospital for the purpose of fraud. Notably, one of these two pages had more than 20,000 likes and 21,000 followers. The subjects took advantage of the hospital's image to call for charity for people in difficult circumstances and patients with serious illnesses for personal gain.
Mr. Pham Dai Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism , said: After receiving the information, this agency promptly informed the leaders of Son La Provincial General Hospital, and at the same time directed the Press and Publication Management Department to coordinate in handling, using professional measures, and reporting the fake page. On April 27, 2025, 2 fake pages were removed from the Facebook social networking platform. The Department reported to the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee 35 to coordinate in grasping the situation and giving directions.
It is known that Son La Provincial General Hospital currently only uses 2 official fanpages to post articles titled: "Son La Provincial General Hospital" and "Social Work - Son La Provincial General Hospital". This hospital only uses one account number: 121000089638, under the name of SON LA PROVINCIAL GENERAL HOSPITAL - At Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank).
