Steel prices today May 25: Continue to decrease

World market

At the end of the weekend trading session, the price of June rebar on the Shanghai Futures Exchange fell back 0.26% (8 yuan) to 3,043 yuan/ton. On the Dalian Exchange, the price of June iron ore futures fell 0.32% (2.5 yuan) to 769 yuan/ton. Similarly, the price of May iron ore futures on the Singapore Exchange fell 0.3 USD to 99.56 USD/ton.

Steel futures and iron ore prices continue to fall.

Compared with the end of last week, steel prices on the Shanghai, Dalian and Singapore iron ore exchanges changed by -0.9%, -0.2% and -1% respectively.

China's property sector weakness is expected to continue this year, with home prices falling nearly 5% and expected to remain flat through 2026, according to a Reuters survey.

“Finished steel product holdings by Chinese traders fell for the second consecutive week during May 16-22, down 398,500 tonnes from the previous week,” Mysteel consultancy said.

On the demand side, three new blast furnaces were brought back online and six blast furnaces were put into maintenance, according to a note from brokerage Everbright Futures.

Domestic market

Domestically, businesses keep steel prices stable. Specifically, Hoa Phat 's CB240 steel price is recorded at 13,790 VND/kg, CB300 steel is quoted at 13,740 VND/kg. Similarly, at Viet Duc Steel, CB240 steel price is recorded at 13,600 VND/kg, D10 CB300 steel is recorded at 13,350 VND/kg. With Viet Sing Steel, businesses quote CB240 steel price at 13,690 VND/kg and D10 C300 steel at 13,580 VND/kg.

Hoa Phat steel brand, with CB240 rolled steel line at 13,790 VND/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar is priced at 13,740 VND/kg.

Viet Y Steel brand, CB240 rolled steel line is priced at 13,890 VND/kg; D10 CB300 ribbed steel bar is priced at 13,640 VND/kg.
