Durian price today May 27: Market recovers

In general, durian prices today remain stable, however the price gap between the bucket and the selected type is very large, clearly reflecting the high quality requirements from the market. In the context of many export barriers, domestic consumption plays a key role in helping the market "keep the rhythm".

According to the survey, today's durian price has not fluctuated much compared to previous sessions, continuing to maintain stability in all three regions of the Southwest, Southeast and Central Highlands.

In the provinces of the Southwest, Ri6 durian is purchased at 25,000 - 28,000 VND/kg, while the beautiful variety costs from 60,000 - 65,000 VND/kg. Thai durian is traded at 45,000 - 50,000 VND/kg, and Thai beautiful variety is priced at 85,000 - 90,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, the price of Ri6 B durian is commonly between VND36,000 and VND38,000 per kilogram, reflecting average quality. Meanwhile, Thai A durian has been purchased by many warehouses at a high price of up to VND80,000 per kilogram, showing that purchasing power in the domestic market is gradually recovering.

In the Central Highlands, the price level is similar, Ri6 durian ranges from 52,000 - 54,000 VND/kg, while Thai durian costs from 32,000 - 35,000 VND/kg.

In particular, Musang King durian, a high-end imported or limited domestic cultivation variety, is being purchased by warehouses and traders at 115,000 - 125,000 VND/kg. This is the highest price on the market today.

According to the Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), in the first 4 months of 2025, durian exports to China only reached about 120 - 130 million USD, equivalent to 20% of the plan, with a volume of about 35,000 tons. The reason comes from China's strict quality control and competitive pressure from countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Cambodia.

However, entering May – the peak harvest season for Ri6 durian in the West, domestic signals show that prices have not dropped as deeply as at the beginning of the year. Maintaining the price of 60,000 – 65,000 VND/kg for grade A products helps growers start making profits again, especially when input costs are well controlled.

According to some surveys in the Hanoi market, the retail price of Ri6 durian is currently only fluctuating between 65,000 - 95,000 VND/kg, with small, unattractive fruits being only over 50,000 VND/kg. This creates a good opportunity for consumers but also a challenge for farmers if they do not focus on improving the quality of the fruit.

In general, durian prices today remain stable, however the price gap between the bucket and the selected type is very large, clearly reflecting the high quality requirements from the market. In the context of many export barriers, domestic consumption plays a key role in helping the market "keep the rhythm".

Weekly Trend: Prices may move sideways or slightly up for the premium grades, especially as domestic demand increases during the summer. However, the bucket grade will continue to be under downward pressure if supply increases sharply in the main growing regions.
