Latest durian price news
Thailand boosts domestic consumption with a series of fruit festivals
The Department of Internal Trade of Thailand (DIT) is implementing many programs to promote domestic fruit consumption, including durian.
The upcoming highlight is the Fruit Festival from June 19-22 at Siam Square, with an all-you-can-eat durian party event to attract young people and international visitors.
DIT cooperated with major retail chains to organize a promotional campaign from June 4 to August 27, some gas stations also gave away free fruit.
Vietnam durian exports drop sharply
In the first 4 months of 2025, Vietnam's durian exports reached only 51,860 tons, down 53% in volume and 61% in value compared to the same period in 2024.
The average export price decreased by 16%, down to 3,538 USD/ton. The main reason was the sharp decline in export turnover to China, down 75.5%.
However, China still updated 829 more growing area codes and 131 packing facility codes for Vietnamese durian, bringing the total to 1,396 growing area codes and 188 packing facility codes.
Thus, although Vietnam's durian exports are facing difficulties, China continues to expand the list of growing areas and packaging facilities, creating conditions for Vietnam's durian exports to this market.
