Domestic pepper prices updated on the morning of April 28, 2025

Last week, domestic pepper prices fluctuated up and down on several days, but overall did not change much compared to last week.

Experts say that tomorrow, pepper prices are likely to continue to move sideways or decrease slightly within a narrow range. This adjustment is mainly technical because pepper prices have remained high for many weeks and there is no clear stimulus in the short term. If the export market does not have sudden orders, prices are unlikely to increase sharply.

In the short term, pepper prices may continue to fluctuate around VND154,000–157,000/kg. Some factors supporting price increases include low inventories among people and stable demand from China, the Middle East and the US. However, pressure from logistics costs and exchange rate fluctuations may make exporters more cautious in signing new contracts, thereby slowing down the price increase.

Regarding the main causes affecting the current market: Supply decreased slightly due to farmers limiting investment and shifting to other crops with higher value. Exports were stable in the first quarter of 2025, although not increasing strongly, they still maintained good purchasing power from traditional markets. The weather factor was quite favorable, helping to maintain quality, but not enough to create a breakthrough in output.

The pepper market is in a price accumulation phase, with short-term fluctuations mainly due to local supply and demand and market psychology, with no clear signal for a strong upward trend in early May 2025.

Update world pepper prices on the morning of April 28, 2025

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), reports indicate a general trend that global pepper output is expected to continue to decline in 2025, such as in India, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

This is attributed to factors such as lower economic returns compared to other crops, adverse weather conditions and increased production costs. IPC forecasts a 6.1% decline in global pepper production and with global demand expected to remain strong, pepper prices are expected to remain high through 2025.
