Thanh Nien newspaper published information: " Vietnamese rice price increased to 90 USD/ton, ranking 2nd in the world ".

In the first 4 months of 2025, Vietnam's rice export volume is 1 million tons higher than Thailand's. The possibility of Vietnam becoming the world's 'second' rice exporter in 2025, as predicted by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), is gradually becoming a reality.

Mr. Do Ha Nam , Chairman of the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), said: "I attended the above event and represented Vietnam to present a speech. Vietnam's presentation attracted the attention of Thailand and other countries because everyone was surprised by Vietnam's rice export results in the past 4 months."

The volume of rice exports in the first 4 months reached over 3.4 million tons, equivalent to nearly 1.8 billion USD, an increase of over 8% in volume compared to the same period in 2024. In the first 4 months of 2025, there was a short period at the beginning of the winter-spring rice harvest when prices decreased. However, after the Prime Minister's directive and the ministries and branches intervened to support and remove difficulties, export activities have become favorable again. The export price of fragrant rice increased by about 90 USD/ton from 430 - 440 USD to 530 USD/ton. "Up to the present time of May, the volume of exported rice has exceeded 4 million tons. Thus, in 2025, there are still 7 months for Vietnam to complete the export target of 7.5 million tons; this is completely within our capacity and can exceed the target," Mr. Nam said optimistically.
