Domestic pepper prices updated on the morning of May 29, 2025 |
Experts say that domestic pepper prices remain high after a series of price drops, showing a positive sign for garden owners and traders, in the context of pressure from input costs and purchasing demand still existing.
In the short term, pepper purchasing prices may continue to fluctuate within a narrow range, depending on the export speed and the stockpiling trend of processing enterprises as well as international traders.
However, the overall picture of the international market is fraught with many unfavorable factors. The fact that US businesses are increasing imports of goods from China before the new tax is imposed in August 2025 has caused sea freight rates to increase dramatically. This directly pushes up the logistics costs of agricultural products, including pepper.

Several major shipping lines have announced plans to raise rates for shipping 40-foot containers from China to U.S. West Coast ports from $3,500 to $6,500, starting June 1, 2025.
This price increase will reduce profit margins and lead to higher prices for consumers. However, for non-essential goods such as pepper, in the context of too high prices, it can lead to consumers cutting it out of their daily menu. This will cause low demand and drag down the market.
In the country, in some provinces of the Central Highlands, the changing weather with many unfavorable factors such as temperature differences, heavy rains, storms, affects the growth of pepper plants. Therefore, farmers pay special attention to plant care to ensure disease safety and maintain productivity.
