Domestic pepper prices updated on the morning of May 8, 2025 |
Experts say the domestic pepper market is currently stable with high prices, reflecting a balanced supply and demand. In the short term, pepper prices are forecast to remain stable, but may be affected by fluctuations in world prices and weather factors in major producing countries.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in April 2025, world pepper prices fluctuated a lot. After decreasing in the first half of the month, pepper prices turned to increase again in the second half of the month, but were still lower than at the end of the previous month. In the domestic market, pepper prices decreased in the first half of April, then increased again in the second half of the month.

The Import-Export Department said that recently, pepper prices have increased due to reduced supply after the harvest, along with the psychology of growers holding onto goods and waiting for prices to increase.
Meanwhile, the world market remains stable and high, continuing to create positive momentum for domestic pepper prices. Experts believe that if demand from major markets such as the Middle East and Europe increases sharply in the second quarter of 2025, pepper prices may continue to increase.
In other news, not only Vietnam, but also other major producing countries such as Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and Brazil are witnessing sharp declines in output due to erratic weather, labor shortages and a wave of crop conversion to more profitable varieties.
