Gold prices remain unchanged, many stores still do not sell gold bars

Customers find it difficult to buy gold bars.

According to Lao Dong reporters, in recent trading sessions, the number of customers at some gold and gemstone stores in Hanoi is very low. Many large gold stores have not yet announced the date to reopen trading of SJC gold bars and 9999 smooth round gold rings.

Ms. Bui Tra My (Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi) - a customer coming to transact at a gold shop on Cau Giay Street - said: "If you want to buy gold now, you have to wait to buy at banks. At this time, asking to buy SJC gold bars at jewelry stores is not only not available but also a waste of time. I have come many times but have not been able to buy."

Seeing the continuous decrease in gold prices recently, Ms. Nguyen Thu Trang (62 years old, Ba Dinh, Hanoi) decided to sell the gold she had accumulated for a long time. "I saw that gold prices had decreased, but I needed money so I had to sell it. I was very surprised when there were fewer customers coming to the stores than before and I didn't have to wait in line to make a transaction like before" - Ms. Trang said.

Additionally, at some gold shops on Tran Nhan Tong Street (Hai Ba Trung, Hanoi) on the morning of June 27, the price of SJC gold bars fluctuated from 74-76 million VND/tael and the price of 9999 plain round rings fluctuated from 73-75 million VND/tael.

The lack of customers also occurred at most gold shops. Customers came to the shops mainly to buy jewelry or sell gold.

"My wife and I went to buy gold bars at all the big gold shops in Hanoi, but for the past 2 weeks we have all come back empty-handed. However, because the gold price is low, my wife and I still buy, but only a few gold shops have 9999 gold rings for sale" - Mr. Nguyen Tung Duong (Thanh Tri, Hanoi) shared.

Looking to buy SJC gold bars at major stores for nearly 3 weeks now, Ms. Le Thu Huong (Hanoi) has received the message "the store is currently not selling SJC gold bars and 9999 plain round rings".

"Since the gold was transferred to 4 big banks for sale, I occasionally stop by big gold stores to see if there are any customers coming to sell gold, then I ask to buy it back" - Ms. Huong said.

An employee at a gold shop on Tran Nhan Tong Street (Hanoi) said: "Since the shop stopped selling SJC gold bars and 9999 plain rings, the number of customers coming to make transactions has decreased significantly, and there is no longer a scene of jostling in line every time the gold price fluctuates."
