Domestic gold prices are soaring amidst the precious metal continuing to set new records at $3,077 on the international market. Gold futures prices are expected to soon reach $3,100, but a correction is also possible.

At Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), gold closed the session at 98.2-100.2 million VND/ounce (buy-sell). Compared to the previous session, the price increased by 800,000 VND/ounce for buying and surged by 1.3 million VND/ounce for selling, bringing the buy-sell spread to a stable 2 million VND/ounce.
The price of DOJI gold bars is currently listed at 98.2 million VND/ounce (buying price) and 100.2 million VND/ounce (selling price), an increase of 800,000 VND/ounce for the buying price and 1.3 million VND/ounce for the selling price, compared to the close of the previous trading session.
The current gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau is 98.3 million VND/ounce for buying and 100.2 million VND/ounce for selling, an increase of 800,000 VND/ounce for buying and 1.3 million VND/ounce for selling compared to the previous session.
At Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the buying price of SJC gold is 98 million VND/ounce and the selling price is 99.7 million VND/ounce. Thus, compared to the previous session, the price of gold decreased by 200,000 VND/ounce in both the buying and selling directions.

According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 4:00 AM Vietnam time today was $3,083.44 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 1.12% compared to yesterday. Converted using the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,875 VND/USD), the world gold price is approximately 96.1 million VND/ounce (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is currently 1.3 million VND/ounce higher than the international gold price.

According to Reuters, gold prices have surged to record highs as investors flocked to the safe-haven asset amid fears of a global trade war fueled by the latest tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
Spot gold rose 0.9% to $3,082.39 an ounce at 11:38 a.m. ET (1538 GMT) after hitting its eighteenth record high of the year at $3,086.70 earlier in the session. The precious metal has gained 2% for the week and is on track for its fourth consecutive weekly gain. US gold futures rose 0.9% to $3,088.90.
Peter Grant, vice president and senior metals strategist at Zaner Metals, said: "Safe-haven demand continues to rise as growing concerns about tariffs, trade and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty support gold."
Gold, traditionally considered a hedge against economic and political instability, tends to thrive in low-interest rate environments.
The personal consumption expenditure (PCE) price index rose 0.4% in February, compared to analysts' expectations of a 0.3% increase, similar to the January rise. Grant added that this data is unlikely to significantly alter expectations of interest rate cuts, as it was only slightly higher than anticipated.
The Federal Reserve (Fed) has kept interest rates unchanged year-to-date after three rate cuts in 2024, but has hinted at the possibility of a half-percentage-point rate cut later this year.
The market is currently pricing in a 63-basis-point Fed interest rate cut later this year, starting in July. The market is also preparing for Trump's plan to impose reciprocal tariffs, which he intends to announce on April 2nd.
Analysts say Trump's policies are seen as inflationary, risking economic growth and escalating trade tensions.
Spot silver fell 0.6% to $34.21 per ounce, platinum declined 0.3% to $983.35, and palladium dropped 0.2% to $973.25. All three precious metals were on an upward trend this week.
