Gold prices fall, oil and USD recover

At the end of the trading session on June 2, the price of 4-digit 9 gold bars at SJC Ho Chi Minh City was VND66.45 million per tael for buying and VND67.05 million per tael for selling. The price of 4-digit 9 gold bars at SJC Hanoi was listed at VND66.45 million per tael for buying and VND67.07 million for selling.

Doji Hanoi listed the price at 66.4 million VND per tael for buying and 67 million VND per tael for selling.

On the world market, the spot gold price on the night of June 2, Vietnam time, was trading at around 1,964 USD per ounce, down 0.63% compared to the beginning of the session. The futures gold price was trading at 1,965 USD per ounce.

World gold prices fell amid the release of the US jobs report and many investors speculated that the US Federal Reserve could continue to raise interest rates at its meeting in the middle of this month.

The gold market is struggling to hold its position at $2,000 an ounce. However, the precious metal faces pressure from US labor data.

Nonfarm payrolls increased by 339,000 jobs last month, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, a number higher than forecast.

On the stock market , in the trading session on June 2, VN-Index increased strongly. At the end of the trading session, VN-Index increased by 12.45 points, to 1,090.84 points. HNX-Index increased by 2.06 points, to 226.03 points. UPCoM-Index increased by 0.46 points, to 83.96 points.

Regarding the dollar price , the exchange rate of Vietnamese Dong against the US dollar was listed by the State Bank on June 2 at 23,722 VND per USD, down 7 VND compared to the previous day.

The reference exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam on June 2 was 23,400 VND for buying and 24,858 VND for selling per dollar. The USD price at commercial banks on June 2 was traded around 23,280 VND for buying and 23,650 VND for selling.

In the world, the price of the US dollar tends to recover. The DXY index - measuring the strength of the USD compared to 6 major currencies - at 9:54 p.m. on June 2 reached 103.78 points, up 0.22% compared to the previous session.

World oil prices continued to rise amid investor optimism after the US debt ceiling bill was passed. Brent crude oil prices rose to $76 a barrel, while WTI crude oil prices were close to $72 a barrel.

In the domestic market, the selling prices of gasoline and oil today are applied according to the prices at the management session on the afternoon of June 1 of the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade.

Accordingly, the price of RON 95 gasoline increased to VND22,010 per liter. The price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased to VND20,870 per liter. The price of diesel oil decreased to VND17,940 per liter. The price of kerosene decreased to VND17,770 per liter.

The price of gold rings increased sharply along with the world. The price of gold rings in the country today (June 2) increased sharply along with the world, with some brands increasing by up to 350,000 VND/tael. Gold rings moved closer to the price mark of 57 million VND/tael. The price of gold bars also increased, listed around 67 million VND/tael (selling price).
