According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was 3,237.66 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 2.55% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (26,477 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 103.3 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 15.9 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Gold prices, considered a safe haven in times of uncertainty, fell more than 2% after the US and China announced a temporary deal to reduce tariffs imposed on each other’s goods. The deal brought risk appetite back into the market, reducing demand for the metal.

Gold’s euphoric reaction to the chaotic news from the White House last month has left the precious metal vulnerable to a change in President Trump’s stance, said Adrian Ash, director of research at BullionVault. As market sentiment turns more positive, he said, gold may only rally again if those expectations run into new headwinds.

Under the agreement, the US will reduce additional tariffs imposed in April on Chinese goods from 145% to 30%. In response, China will reduce import tariffs on US goods from 125% to 10%. These measures will take effect within 90 days.

The dollar rose to its highest level in more than a month after the deal was announced, while global stock markets rallied. However, a stronger dollar makes gold more expensive for foreign investors, putting downward pressure on the precious metal.

Jim Wyckoff, senior analyst at Kitco Metals, said that the bulls in the June gold market have lost their near-term technical advantage. He said the next target is to close above strong resistance at $3,350. The immediate resistance is now at $3,250, followed by $3,275.

Investors are now looking ahead to the US consumer price index (CPI) report due on Tuesday for clues on the Federal Reserve’s next policy direction. Other key economic data due this week include producer price index (PPI) and retail sales, which could influence expectations for interest rate hikes. In such a scenario, low interest rates could boost the appeal of non-yielding gold.

Besides gold, other precious metals also fell in price. Spot silver fell slightly by 0.2% to $32.64 an ounce. Platinum fell by 1.7% to $977.77, while palladium fell by 1.6% to $960.
