While the immediate threat of a global trade war has eased, uncertainty continues to weigh on investor sentiment, which should continue to support gold. Beyond trade, soaring U.S. debt is also shaking confidence in the bond market, as the Treasury prepares to auction two-, five- and seven-year notes. Analysts say weak demand and any spike in yields could boost gold further.

Gold remains one of the few safe-haven assets and with rising yields likely to force the US Federal Reserve to act through yield curve control or rate cuts, analysts say this will send the metal further into the red./.
