Recorded at 12:00 noon Vietnam time, WTI oil price increased by 0.55 USD, reaching 64.22 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.91%. Brent oil price also increased by 0.43 USD, to 67.87 USD/barrel, an increase of 0.64%.
This is a significant recovery after the previous session's plunge, mainly due to US sanctions targeting Iran's oil and LPG transportation network.
The US Treasury Department has targeted Seyed Asadoollah Emamjomeh, the head of Iran's major oil and gas logistics system, in an effort to curb the country's energy exports.
According to expert John Kilduff, if a nuclear deal is not reached, Iran's oil exports could fall sharply, contributing to further increases in oil prices.
In addition, market sentiment has also improved thanks to the recovery of US stock indexes, showing that investors are starting to return to risky assets. Expectations that US-China trade tensions may ease even though negotiations have not yet started, also contributed to supporting oil prices.
However, experts still warn of some potential risks. The highest tax policies in nearly 100 years, combined with an uncertain global growth outlook, could put downward pressure on oil demand in the medium term.
On the supply side, data from the American Petroleum Institute showed that crude oil and gasoline inventories in the United States fell sharply last week, helping to support oil prices. However, the pessimistic forecast from the Russian Ministry of Economy also showed that the market is still affected by many unpredictable factors, from geopolitics to global macroeconomic fluctuations.
Domestic gasoline prices on April 23, 2025 recorded a decrease for most items, except for mazut. Specifically, E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by VND 384 per liter, to VND 18,498 per liter. RON 95 gasoline also decreased by VND 351, currently priced at VND 18,856 per liter.
The price of 0.05S diesel continued to decrease by VND206 per liter, down to VND17,037 per liter. Kerosene decreased by VND229 per liter, currently at VND17,184 per liter. Meanwhile, 180CST 3.5S fuel oil increased slightly by VND58 per kilogram, up to VND15,960 per kilogram.
In this management session, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance decided not to set aside and not to use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for all of the above items. This decision reflects the trend of flexible adjustment according to world price fluctuations and domestic market developments.
