The "king" of amateur football

Nguyen Van Cap, a striker from Quang Tri , nicknamed himself "Capdevila". This is the name of a famous defender of the Spanish national team. However, Cap is a great scorer, considered the "king" of amateur football. Cap is a long-time worker of Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), one of the teams that participated in all 3 seasons.

As a companion throughout the journey, Mr. Cap clearly understands the value, meaning and development of the tournament. He shared: "This is an important playground for workers and civil servants. Over the years, I have seen the quality of the tournament and the participating teams getting better and better. Therefore, the SAWACO team must also be better prepared. I think that is good. Any tournament for workers and civil servants that is maintained regularly and long-term is always valuable."

The appearance of Nguyen Van Cap attracted a lot of amateur football enthusiasts to the stadiums of Ton Duc Thang University and People's Police University. It's just a pity that SAWACO's striker could not play due to injury. "I know this team has many stars like Nguyen Van Cap, Tuan Vinh, Nam "the kid". A week ago, the Northern qualifying round of the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament was held in Hanoi. And the "familiar" team of the tournament, Hai Phong Trade Union, continued to win tickets to the final round. Hai Phong Trade Union was the first champion of the tournament, and was also one of the teams that participated in all 3 final rounds.

Coach Nguyen Manh Dung emotionally shared: "It has become a habit. As soon as this year's tournament ended, we were discussing and thinking about how we would play next year... We were just waiting for the summons from the leaders to be ready to join the game right away. In the grassroots playground, there is probably no unit that organizes better for workers and civil servants."

Not enough 3 years, but Khanh Hoa Trade Union is one of the teams that created the strongest impression in the Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament. The image of former national futsal goalkeeper Nguyen Dinh Y Hoa scoring, helping the team go far and win 3rd place in 2024 became one of the symbols of the tournament.

That success was the motivation for Ý Hòa and his teammates in Khánh Hòa Trade Union team to travel to Ho Chi Minh City with the determination to achieve their high goal. Mr. Nguyễn Quang Trung, the team's head coach, shared: "We look forward to the tournament every day. When we received the order to leave, everyone acted very quickly.

The preparation time for the tournament is only 10 days, because many players are far away. But thanks to the fact that most of the players regularly play amateur football, they are always in good physical condition. I hope the tournament will be maintained for a long time so that workers can have a useful playground."

After 3 years of organization, the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament has recorded progress in organization, expertise, and image. However, the organizing committee never forgets the core values. Those are the teams and players who have contributed to the success over the past 3 years.

Mr. Hoang Van Hue - Chairman of Thien Long Group's Trade Union - received a prize of a Dreamer multi-function electric pressure cooker. The other two audience members, Mr. Truong Van Dong and a student from Ton Duc Thang University, both won a Dreamer air fryer. All three winners expressed their special feelings because they did not expect to be so lucky.

The 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament is jointly organized by Tuoi Tre Newspaper , the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Vietnam Football Federation. This is the third consecutive year the tournament has taken place.

The 2025 tournament is sponsored by Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO), Dong Luc Sports Group, HTP Pharmaceutical Investment Joint Stock Company, Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company, Sunshine Group, Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO), Faslink Fashion Connection Joint Stock Company, 108 Central Military Hospital, 175 Military Hospital and a number of enterprises.

The Northern qualifying round took place from October 3 to 5 at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, determining 6 names to win tickets to the national final round, including the champion, the People's Public Security Trade Union.

The Southern qualifying round is taking place from October 10 to 13 at Ton Duc Thang University and People's Police University with the participation of 23 teams.
