The $1.58 billion Mega Millions jackpot has been won.

During the Mega Millions lottery jackpot drawing in Florida (USA) on August 8, a lucky player owned a winning ticket with a prize of up to 1.58 billion USD - the 3rd largest prize in US history.

The winning numbers in the draw on August 8 were 13, 19, 20, 32 and 33, and the golden ball number was 14.

The ticket was sold at a Publix supermarket in Neptune Beach, Florida. The identity of the ticket owner is not yet known.

Before finding the lucky ticket owner, Mega Millions had gone through 31 consecutive draws without a winner. As a result, the cumulative prize had reached $1.58 billion.

Mega Millions also said the $1.58 billion prize is the estimated prize. If confirmed as the official prize, this would be the largest prize in Mega Millions history, surpassing the $1.537 billion prize in 2018.

It would also be the third-largest jackpot in US lottery history, behind the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot in 2016 and $2.04 billion in 2022.

According to the regulations, the winner will receive the entire prize money if he decides to receive the prize money over a long period of 30 years. In case the winner wants to receive the money in a single lump sum, he will only receive half of the prize money ($783.3 million USD) and must pay related taxes and fees according to state regulations.

Mega Millions is currently available in 45 US states, Washington DC, and the Virgin Islands.
