On November 21, the coaches and athletes of the Vietnamese chess team, who are training at the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi (the center), sent a report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Sports and Physical Training, and the center's Board of Directors about the chess team's training situation.
The team includes Coach Le Thanh Tu, Dang Vu Dung; Athletes Le Tuan Minh, Tran Tuan Minh, Nguyen Van Huy, Pham Xuan Dat, Nguyen Huynh Minh Thien, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Dong Khanh Linh, Nguyen Hong Ngoc, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung, Tran Dang Minh Quang, Dao Minh Nhat, Nguyen Thi Minh Thu, Vo Thi Kim Phung .
The reason the chess team wrote this "letter" was because there was previously information from the center about the chess team not practicing despite repeated reminders, practicing without a coach, athletes, coaches not following the actual lesson plan, not reporting in meetings, signing on behalf of the team to take attendance,...
Tran Tuan Minh is in the group of Vietnamese chess team gathering at the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi.
The chess team's coaches and athletes explained in detail in the report: "With the characteristics of chess, practicing and competing in online tournaments with the world's top players is extremely necessary to improve the chess level of the team's athletes, especially grandmasters. Due to the time zone difference, online tournaments gathering top athletes from Europe and America all take place between 10 pm and 5 am Vietnam time. Currently, the online tournaments that the team's athletes participate in are: Titled Tuesday, Arena Kings, Bullet Brawl, Titled Arena, Variants Community Series, Pro Chess League, 960 or Koth, Champions Chess Tour... Therefore, when the athletes participate in online tournaments all night, the next morning they will spend time recovering and studying at home. This has been reported many times by the team's coaching staff in professional training meetings at the center."
Vo Thi Kim Phung and other Vietnamese chess players regularly compete in online tournaments to improve their skills.
Therefore, the information that the Vietnamese chess team did not practice despite repeated reminders, practiced without a coach, athletes, the coach did not stick to the actual lesson plan, did not report in meetings, signed on behalf of the athletes to take attendance,... is incorrect, greatly affecting the training spirit and psychology of the athletes.
Talking to Thanh Nien reporter today (November 29), Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh - Deputy Director of Hanoi National Sports Training Center said that yesterday (November 28), representatives of the center's leadership, representatives of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, in charge of the chess department had a meeting to resolve the problem. "There are differences in the views of the center's training department and the chess team, so in the meeting we dissected and then agreed on how to do it in accordance with regulations but also on the basis of creating the best conditions for the team to practice and compete to improve their level," said Mr. Nguyen Anh Minh.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Thang - in charge of the chess department of the Department of Sports and Physical Training and Coach Le Thanh Tu said that the incident has passed and been resolved satisfactorily. Currently, the players are focusing on professional training and improving their chess skills for upcoming tournaments.
