On the evening of May 11 in Hanoi , the Bao Son Award Ceremony 2024 officially took place. The program was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, representatives of ministries, departments and many scientists and researchers at home and abroad.
At the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung assessed that the Bao Son Award Ceremony is a clear demonstration of the connection between policy and practice; between the private sector and the state; between the state, scientists, businesses and the community, all working together to build an open, sustainable and effective innovation ecosystem.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung believes that the scientific works honored today will become a great source of encouragement and motivation for scientists to continue researching and contributing their intelligence and efforts to the rapid and sustainable development of the country.

He suggested that ministries, branches, localities, scientific organizations, businesses, and the whole society continue to join hands to realize the goals of Resolution 57, together creating a favorable environment for all talents to be promoted, all innovations to be recognized and put into application.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister also called on the scientific community, business community, entrepreneurs, intellectuals, compatriots and soldiers at home and abroad to continue to arouse the desire to contribute and innovate for a fast, sustainable, self-reliant, prosperous and happy Vietnam.
Launched in 2010, the Bao Son National Award has contributed and positively influenced sustainable development and prosperity in Vietnam. The award aims to honor outstanding research projects with high applicability, making outstanding contributions to the country's sustainable development.
The award fields include: Natural sciences, social sciences and humanities; Technology, engineering; Health sciences; Literature, arts. The value of each award this time is up to 120,000 USD (more than 3 billion VND).

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Bao Son Group Nguyen Truong Son emphasized: “Thoroughly grasping the guiding ideology of the Party and State leaders, considering science and technology development and innovation as the only way to develop the country and improve people's lives, meeting the increasing needs of the people.
According to the Chairman of Bao Son Education and Training Support Fund, the Award will be maintained and developed for many decades, with an additional value of 10,000 USD per award/year.
“It is expected that by the end of the 21st century, the value of each award will be equivalent to 1 million USD, and the budget for the annual award will be 5 million USD,” said Mr. Son.
From 28 participating scientific and technological works, the Selection Council found 4 winners of the Bao Son Award 2024, including:
Research and production project of African swine fever vaccine (Product name: AVAC ASF LIVE) - Field of Livestock and Environmental Protection carried out by Dr. Nguyen Van Diep, AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company.
Research project on the application of endoscopic surgery in the treatment of some thyroid diseases - Health Science field, conducted by Labor Hero, People's Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor Tran Ngoc Luong.
The project Research and application of advanced three-phase composite materials and structures in engineering - Field of Engineering Technology was conducted by Professor, Doctor of Science Nguyen Dinh Duc, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The work History of Ethnic Policy of Vietnamese Communists - Social Sciences and Humanities by Professor, Dr. Furuta Motoo, Vietnam-Japan University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Notably, this is the first time the Bao Son Prize has been awarded to a foreign scientist. Professor, Dr. Furuta Motoo said: “I am very honored to receive the Bao Son Prize in 2024.”
In the context that Vietnam is implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, the Bao Son National Award is expected to contribute to diversifying forms of honoring, praising and rewarding scientists, inventors, businesses, organizations and individuals with achievements in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; respecting every invention, invention, technical improvement and initiative to improve work efficiency and performance, no matter how small.
