On May 24, the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium/Luxembourg - Vietnamese Delegation to the EU flew the flag at half-mast and held a memorial service for comrade Tran Duc Luong, former Politburo member and former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
In front of the portrait of former President Tran Duc Luong, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao expressed his deep condolences and affirmed that all leaders, officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium/Luxembourg - Vietnamese Delegation to the EU always remember the great contributions of the former President. The Ambassador emphasized that the agency's collective will continue to unite and strive to fulfill all assigned tasks.

Visiting the former President were representatives of the diplomatic corps including Ambassadors, representatives of the Embassies of China, Japan, Laos, Indonesia... along with the Vietnamese community, student associations, members of the Communist Party of Vietnam . The European External Action Service (EEAS) and many other government agencies sent condolences.
The delegations expressed their respect and condolences on the passing of comrade Tran Duc Luong. The condolence book entries affirmed his merits, contributions and legacy to the development of Vietnam as well as strengthening the relationship between Vietnam and other countries.
The condolence book will be open at the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium/Luxembourg – Vietnamese Delegation to the EU until May 26 to facilitate the diplomatic corps, citizens and the Vietnamese community in the host country to express their condolences and gratitude to former President Tran Duc Luong.
