The 2025 Golden Globe Awards recorded 96 applications, of which 83 were valid, an increase of 34% compared to 2024. Notably, among the valid applications, there were 26 young Vietnamese scientists who are researching and working in developed countries around the world , accounting for 31.3%.
The ten young scientists receiving the Golden Globe Award this year were honored for their outstanding research, solving global and Vietnamese challenges, working in five national strategic science and technology fields, including: Information technology, digital transformation and automation; Medical and pharmaceutical technology; Biotechnology; Environmental technology and New materials technology.
The 2025 Vietnam Science and Technology Female Student Award also received an impressive number of applications, with 176 applications, of which 130 were valid, an increase of 56.6% over the same period in 2024.
Twenty outstanding female students who won the award were evaluated by the Organizing Committee as those who "affirmed the intelligence, courage and aspiration of the young generation of Vietnamese female intellectuals in the new era". The female students were honored in the fields of: Information technology, computers, mechanics, electricity - electronics - telecommunications, materials, environment, applied biology and architecture - construction.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, emphasized the core importance of science, technology and innovation.
Mr. Do Van Chien affirmed: "Science, technology and innovation have become the core foundation that determines the position of the nation." He also noted that countries that are leading in technology and innovation are the countries that shape the future of the world.
The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front suggested that all levels and sectors should focus on reviewing, updating, and perfecting specific institutions and policies to discover, select, nurture, and promote young talents in science and technology. At the same time, it is necessary to build a flexible financial mechanism, issue preferential policies on tax, land, credit, and opportunities to access innovation funds for young research groups and technology startups.
"We must put policies into practice. We cannot let policies exist on paper," Mr. Chien emphasized.
On the part of the organizer, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (and also Chairman of the Vietnam Student Association), affirmed that Vietnam's direction is to consider science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and knowledge economy as the main growth drivers in the coming period. He believes that these two awards have "special significance and mission to inspire, create an environment to discover, nurture and promote young Vietnamese science and technology talents".
