Educating the young generation about patriotism and revolutionary heroism

We visited Mr. Tong Van Thang, residing in Mam village, Chieng So commune, Song Ma district, who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign at the age of 23, in the 957th regiment, C9 company, trained in Muong Quai commune, Muong Lay district, Dien Bien province. After completing training, he was assigned to do security work, ready for combat in the unit.

At the beginning of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, he participated in the battle at Him Lam hill, which opened the way for our troops to attack the enemy's important stronghold.

Mr. Tong Van Thang - Ban Mam, Chieng So commune, Song Ma district : My most memorable memory during the fighting in Dien Bien was witnessing comrade Phan Dinh Giot bravely volunteering, charging forward alone to destroy the enemy bunker, then throwing grenades to kill many enemies, creating conditions for the unit to advance and destroy the Him Lam stronghold. Currently, in Song Ma district, there are 18 veterans who participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. 70 years have passed, but for these veterans, the memories of a glorious time that created the historic victory on May 7, 1954 will never fade.

Lo Thi Phuong Vy - 9th grade student, Chieng So Secondary School, Chieng So Commune, Song Ma District, Son La : When we heard the story you told about the Dien Bien Phu war, we were very grateful to the previous generations, we will try to study well.

Despite increasing age and declining health, the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers and the belief in the Party's leadership in each veteran are always maintained and continue to be passed on to the younger generation to compete in building and making the homeland and country increasingly rich and beautiful.

Mr. Lo Van Van - Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Chieng So Commune, Song Ma District, Son La: As a youth union member, we are extremely grateful for the contributions of our ancestors who fought, sacrificed heroically and brought peace and independence to the country. I myself will promote the tradition and youthfulness to build the country more and more prosperous and mobilize youth union members to participate in protecting the country to become more and more prosperous and civilized.

Promoting the precious tradition, in recent years, the Association of War Veterans of Song Ma district has always focused on educating the tradition of patriotism and revolutionary heroism for the younger generation through many diverse and rich forms such as: organizing extracurricular activities, visiting historical sites, meeting historical witnesses, educating traditions, etc., attracting thousands of union members and young people to participate. Thereby helping the younger generation understand correctly, be proud of and appreciate the revolutionary tradition of the Party, the nation and our army through the ages.

Mr. Cam Van Duc - Member of the Association of War Veterans of Muong Hung village, Muong Hung commune, Song Ma district, Son La: Although I have retired, I often coordinate with the Association of War Veterans of the commune, organizing propaganda at schools to educate about the revolutionary struggle tradition of our army and people, especially the historical significance of the Muong Hung banyan tree. Thereby educating the younger generation to try to study, be grateful to the Party, beloved Uncle Ho and promote the glorious tradition of our ancestors in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

Quang Linh Chi - 9th grade student of Muong Hung Secondary School, Muong Hung Commune, Song Ma District, Son La: Through the school's history lessons, as well as the stories told by the Veterans Association members, we have a deeper understanding of the heroic struggle of our ancestors. The irreplaceable sacrifices and losses to have a peaceful life like today, we promise to strive to study hard, acquire knowledge to inherit the path of building our homeland to become more and more prosperous to be worthy of the sacrifices of our ancestors, we will continue the traditional flame that the previous generation has lit.

Through practical and useful activities, it has created a connection between war veterans and the young generation, raised the ideological awareness of the young generation, helped the youth live with ambition and courage, actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, and contribute to building the homeland./.
