In memory of 70 years of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), on the evening of April 23, in Hanoi, the Military Radio and Television Center (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) organized a special art exchange program "Dien Bien Phu - Mountain Echoes, River Rumbles".
The program was attended by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; Party Central Committee members: Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Information and Communications; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Party Central Committee members, representatives of the Ministry of National Defense ; leaders of a number of central ministries and branches; leaders of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense.
The program aims to promote the great significance and epochal stature of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory in 1954; affirm the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh , the spirit of great national unity and the strength of the Vietnam People's Army are the fundamental factors that contributed to the great victory of the nation.
This is also one of the activities to honor and show gratitude for the merits and contributions of our army and people; especially the great achievements and contributions of officers, soldiers and frontline laborers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
Thereby, contributing to educating, encouraging and motivating cadres, soldiers of the entire army and people to promote the tradition of patriotism, the spirit of Dien Bien Phu Victory, the will of self-reliance, the desire for development, striving to compete and gain great achievements in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The art exchange “Dien Bien Phu - The Mountain Echoes the River” consists of three main parts: “The Road to Dien Bien Phu”, “Vietnamese Bravery and Intelligence”, “Echoes of Dien Bien”. Through reports, with analysis by historical research experts, witnesses and historians in both Vietnam and France, it explains why Dien Bien Phu was chosen as the decisive battle point between us and the French colonialists; highlights the historical context before the war, the French Navare Plan, and our 1953-1954 Winter-Spring Operational Plan.
At the same time, clarify the justice of our war, affirm the strategic vision of the Politburo, President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap, Commander and Party Secretary of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, as well as his determination to fight and win, his ideology of "Only fight if sure of victory, not fight if not sure of victory", even though comparing the balance of power between us and the enemy before entering the war, we had many disadvantages.
The program is a synthesis and creative combination of reports, graphics, illustrations, reenactments, character exchanges, epic-style animation, and unique musical ensembles.
Through the characters' authentic stories, the reports in the program also highlight the impact of the Dien Bien Phu Victory on the whole world, affirming that the Dien Bien Phu Victory is a great victory of our people, as well as a common victory of all oppressed peoples in the world, especially African countries.
Dien Bien Phu became a great emotion, inspiring colonial peoples in Asia, Africa and Latin America... to awaken, strongly arousing national spirit and patriotism to bravely carry out armed resistance wars, resolutely overthrowing the colonial regime.
Interspersed with the reportage and witness exchanges are special art performances performed by artists and actors of the Military Region 1 Art Troupe.
