On the evening of May 14, in Ha Tinh city, a Vietnam - Japan cultural exchange program took place with the theme: "Connecting the world through folk tales and music ".
Attending the event were Mr. ITO Naoki - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Duy Lam, Provincial People's Committee Chairman Vo Trong Hai, and Provincial People's Committee Vice Chairman Duong Tat Thang.

The Japan - Vietnam Goodwill Cultural Event is an extension of the international project "Connecting cultures through folk tales and music" - the predecessor of the project "Japanese children's comics to the world " initiated in 2007.

With the goal of international cultural exchange andeducation , over the past 20 years, the project has been organized in more than 20 countries around the world.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. ITO Naoki - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam emphasized that the relationship between Japan and Vietnam in Ha Tinh is clearly demonstrated through trade activities from many centuries ago.

Through archaeological activities, many artifacts such as coins and Japanese ceramics from the 17th century have been discovered. In particular, currently, in Ha Tinh, there are many Japanese enterprises operating and deploying in the area. Mr. ITO Naoki also hopes that through this event, there will be a better understanding of the cultures of the two countries, thereby further tightening the friendly relationship and cooperation for development.
At the program, Vietnamese and Japanese artists read poems and folk tales in Vietnamese and Japanese, and performed many cultural performances with unique traditional musical instruments imbued with the cultural identities of the two countries.

The highlight of the program was the telling of Vietnamese and Japanese folk tales by People's Artist Le Khanh combined with the piano of artist Motoki Hirai. In addition, the string quartet performances from the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra also contributed to bringing the audience into an emotional cultural exchange space.

Connecting cultures through folk tales and music is not only a simple art program, but also a symbolic exchange project, aiming to strengthen the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan through traditional languages - folk tales and music.
The program also contributes to arousing love for traditional culture, serving as a catalyst for future bilateral cooperation projects - especially in the fields of education and artistic creation. After Ha Tinh province, the series of events will continue to be held in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces.
