“UK Children's Picture Book Week: Explore , Dream, Create” is an initiative of The Initiative of Children's Book Creative Content (ICBC). The program brings young readers and readers who love children's literature, especially British children's literature, on a creative journey filled with surprises of imagination and magical language in the works of famous authors and illustrators from the UK such as Judith Kerr, John Yeoman & Quentin Blake, Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler.
“UK Children's Picture Book Week: Explore, Dream, Create” officially opened at 2:00 p.m. on March 21, 2025 with a series of activities such as art exhibitions, creative reading, and thematic talks held during the week from March 21 to 28 at Kim Dong Publishing House, 55 Quang Trung, Hanoi .
All activities taking place within the framework of the program are open to the public. Events include “A date with the great storyteller Titfish” (10am, March 22), for children aged 5 and above; “Whispering books - The absent-minded cat” (10am, March 23), for children aged 3-8 with their parents; Special talk “From the book opens - Learning and exploring the world with children through the pages of children's books” (1:30pm, March 22).
This exciting journey of discovery is led by the document set “Reading UK Children’s Picture Books with Me”. This is a handbook for reading and designing, implementing creative activities from typical children’s picture books by famous UK authors and illustrators of children’s books published by Kim Dong in Vietnam, including the book series by author John Yeoman and artist Quentin Blake (7 books), the book series by author Julia Donaldson and artist Axel Scheffler (6 books), the book series “Fat Mog Cat” by author Judith Kerr (5 books).
This is a set of educational materials compiled by The Initiative of Children's Book Creative Content (ICBC) for parents, teachers, librarians and caregivers of children, especially children aged 3 to 8 years old, to use in reading activities and develop a reading culture at home, school and library.
“UK Children’s Picture Book Week: Explore, Dream, Create” aims to promote the development of cultural and artistic activities in Vietnam, opening up opportunities for exchange and cooperation with organizations, authors and British children’s artists through activities to introduce British literature and children’s books in Vietnam in the future.
