To protect the “green lung”, Moc Chau town has established 144 groups and mass teams to protect forests and prevent forest fires in groups and villages with 2,880 participants. Promoting the strength of the collective and community, protecting and developing forests and creating livelihoods and increasing income from forests.

Assigned to manage and protect more than 1,280 hectares of forest, So Luong village, Chieng Son commune, Moc Chau town has established and maintained a forest fire prevention and control management team (PCCCR) with 25 members, regularly coordinating with local forest rangers to propagate and mobilize people to implement conventions, village covenants, and comply with legal regulations on forest protection.

Mr. Lo Van Truong, Party cell secretary and head of So Luong village, excitedly said: From the forest area assigned for protection, each year the village receives over 510 million VND in forest environmental services. In addition to paying wages to members of the forest protection team, the remaining amount is invested in building works serving common activities, such as: Cultural houses, pouring concrete on village roads, alleys and some common activities of the village... People are increasingly raising their awareness and responsibility for protecting and caring for forests, considering forests as common assets of the whole community.

In Na Lun residential group, Muong Sang ward, there is also a bright spot in doing well in forest management and protection. Mr. Vi Van Hanh, Party cell secretary, head of Na Lun residential group, said: To protect well the 1,184 hectares of assigned forest, the village has established a forest protection and fire prevention management team with the task of rotating to inspect and protect the forest, prevent forest encroachment, clean up, clear firebreaks, minimize the risk of forest fires; propagate to raise awareness of forest protection and fire prevention among people... The happiest thing is that people's awareness of forest protection has been raised, for many years, there has been no deforestation, no forest fires, and the forest is protected and green.

Moc Chau has more than 51,724 hectares of forest, of which 2,296 are special-use forests, 21,821 hectares are protective forests, and over 28,282 hectares are production forests. To keep the forests green, Moc Chau Town Forest Protection Department has increased local forest rangers to closely follow the grassroots level, proactively advising the authorities of communes and wards to develop plans, organize the implementation of forest fire prevention and control, develop forests, inspect and control forest products....

Mr. Le Van Dung, Head of Moc Chau Town Forest Protection Department, said: The Department has promoted the application of technology in forest management, updated forest developments via satellite systems, monitored forest changes using specialized software, combined with reports from forest owners and local people, helping to manage and protect forests more conveniently and accurately. Thereby, promptly identifying high-risk fire areas, taking timely measures, such as clearing firebreaks, proactively using means, promoting the "4 on-site" motto to be ready to respond when a fire occurs.

Since the beginning of the year, through software, the forest rangers have detected 29 fire spots. Thereby, timely handling prevents forest fires from spreading widely. In the current context, with limited resources, large areas and complex terrain, the application of information technology is very important.

By promoting the role of the whole community in forest management and protection, combining the good implementation of digital transformation, applying digital transformation in forestry, monitoring changes in forests and land for settlement to promptly detect forest changes. From there, Moc Chau town strives to achieve the target of forest coverage rate in the area of ​​49.4% by 2025.
