Under the influence of Middle East tensions, the global financial market was on fire. VN-Index opened the weekend session with a gap down, under selling pressure throughout the session before recovering slightly at the end of the session thanks to bottom-fishing demand. At the end of the session, VN-Index stopped at 1,315 points, down 7.5 points (-0.57%). Liquidity was outstanding above the 20-session average, with the matched volume on HoSE reaching 1.163 million shares, equivalent to nearly VND26,041 billion in value.

The surge in oil prices amid geopolitical tensions has created a strong push for oil and gas stocks, helping codes such as PVC, PLX, OIL, etc. to break out, contributing positively to the VN-Index. The market breadth was tilted towards the selling side with 69 codes increasing, 263 codes decreasing and 35 codes remaining unchanged. On the supporting side, CTG (+1.74 points), GAS (+0.87 points) and PLX (+0.72 points) supported the index, while the correction pressure mainly came from VHM (-1.52 points) and GVR (-1.25 points).

Market developments show that geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have caused oil prices to fluctuate sharply, causing short-term divergence. Oil and gas, fertilizer, and oil transportation groups may benefit in the short term. However, tensions also put psychological pressure on cash flow, slowing down recovery.

The end of the last trading week was the second week of continued pressure to adjust and accumulate after a period of good price increases. At the beginning of the week, VN-Index was under pressure to adjust to the psychological support area of 1,300 points. Then VN- Index recovered to retest the short-term resistance around 1,325 points and decreased quite strongly in the last session of the week. At the end of the week, VN- Index decreased by -1.08% to 1,315.49 points, above the support of 1,300 points. Meanwhile, VN30 decreased more strongly, at the end of the week, VN30 decreased by -1.25% to 1,401.20 points, retesting the highest price area of March 2025 around 1,400 points.

Market breadth is strongly differentiated, with high rotation and speculation. Highlights include stocks in the oil and gas, fertilizer-chemical, retail, banking groups... While facing strong selling pressure on stocks that have had a good price increase period in the real estate and port groups, facing prolonged cumulative adjustment pressure in the industrial park, securities, and construction groups... Selling pressure increased quite strongly with reduced demand and weakened cash flow when the VN-index was at its old peak. Market liquidity decreased, with trading volume down -12.8% on HoSE. This week, foreign investors net bought VND347 billion on HoSE.

From a technical perspective, momentum indicators show that the bottoming process is still ongoing, with no clear reversal confirmation signal. In particular, the derivatives maturity variable next week will continue to create a tug-of-war and caution for cash flow.

Short-term money is looking for attractive discount buying points, there is no broad consensus yet.

The banking group has signals to support the market but still lacks spread, only focusing on TCB, STB, MBB. Meanwhile, the previous wave-leading sectors such as real estate, construction, seaports... are entering a technical adjustment phase, with a re-accumulation nature to improve price attractiveness.

The investment strategy sent by securities companies to investors is not to act too soon because it is easy to lose the discount advantage and attractive position in the final shake-out.

Investors should closely observe the 1,300 - 1,315 point zone, combining liquidity and bottom-fishing demand to assess the possibility of the correction ending.

Prioritize monitoring and selective disbursement of groups such as banks (TCB, STB, MBB...), modern retail, utilities (electricity, water), food - beverages, chemicals.
