Netflix seems to be interested in expanding its video game offerings, according to Gaming Bolt . The company is reportedly planning to bring the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise to its platform, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. However, it may not be the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 .
Reports have indicated that the company is looking to expand its video game offerings beyond its small-scale mobile gaming niche, with Netflix apparently discussing plans to release a game in the Grand Theft Auto series on its own platform with Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns the Grand Theft Auto IP.
Grand Theft Auto could be coming to Netflix's gaming platform
Netflix is said to have spent around $1 billion on its efforts to bring gaming to its platform so far, and there are no signs of the company slowing down any time soon, an analyst revealed.
Specifically, Netflix began offering subscribers access to its mobile game library through its Android and iOS app versions in late 2021. However, Netflix is also expanding into more premium games that can be streamed from a TV or PC.
In recent news about the next big Grand Theft Auto title, Australian website Australian Classification appears to have rated Grand Theft Auto 6 as an MA15+ upon release, which appears to be a more lenient rating than the MA18+ rating given to the previous Grand Theft Auto 5 game.
