In this year's ranking, Ha Nam province ranked 22nd (up 14 places compared to 2023), with 68.61 points. Thanh Hoa province ranked 21st, and Lao Cai province ranked 23rd.
20 years ago, from the initiative of VCCI, PCI has developed into a comprehensive, scientific and widely spread assessment system, becoming a reliable measure of the quality of economic management at the provincial level.
The PCI 2024 report shows a positive picture of improved provincial economic governance. Analyzing the report, Mr. Dau Anh Tuan, Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Legal Department of VCCI, said that provincial economic governance continues to improve, with the median score reaching 67.67 points, up 1 point compared to 2023. This is also the 8th consecutive year that the national PCI median score has exceeded the 60-point mark - the threshold that reflects a favorable business environment. Notably, this year, the Economic Governance Quality Index - the original index, the core of the PCI rankings, reached 68.18 points, marking continuous improvement since 2016. This is the result of the persistence and perseverance in reform of many localities and the active supervision of the business community.
According to the PCI 2024 report, Hai Phong rose to the top position for the first time with 74.84 points. Localities that have held high positions for many years such as Quang Ninh (73.20 points), Long An (72.64 points), Bac Giang (71.24 points) continue to be in the top of the rankings. Hanoi City ranked 24th with 68.38 points.
