Slow progress due to site clearance problems

Tay Thang Long Avenue is a modern radial urban road with a total length of 33km, 60.5m wide, 10 lanes, connecting from Vo Chi Cong Street, Tay Ho District to Son Tay Town.

Currently, the section from Vo Chi Cong Street to Pham Hung Street (Ring Road 3) has been completed and put into use. The section from Ring Road 3 to Tay Tuu (intersection with Van Tien Dung Street), Tay Tuu Ward, Bac Tu Liem District is under construction.

The People's Committee of Bac Tu Liem district said that due to land acquisition problems, the project is currently behind schedule compared to the city's requirements.

According to Tien Phong reporter on April 24, the entire West Thang Long axis, section of Ring Road 3 - Tay Tuu (section 2) with a length of 3.2km, has been constructed and completed with a length of more than 2.8km. At the completed project section starting from Noi Bridge (Co Nhue 2 Ward) to Van Tien Dung Street (Tay Tuu), a highway standard route has been formed with two independent parallel road systems including a 6-lane highway and a 4-lane parallel service road.

The project section 2 through Bac Tu Liem district has about 400m of unfinished construction, including: the intersection with Pham Hung street, the project road through Co Nhue 2 ward and the Nhue river overpass.

The reason is recorded as land acquisition problems, and the relocation of about 400 households within the project area has not been completed. This fact makes the Tay Thang Long axis, starting from Vo Chi Cong Street (Tay Ho), unable to reach Tay Tuu as planned by Hanoi City.

Arrange 2 resettlement areas

To accelerate the progress of the entire project, including the early opening of section 2 from Tay Ho to Tay Tuu intersection, the leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee have just requested related districts, towns and cities to focus on speeding up site clearance (GPMB). For section 2 from Ring Road 3 to Tay Tuu, the Hanoi People's Committee requested that by the end of the third quarter of this year, the Bac Tu Liem District People's Committee must complete the GPMB of the remaining section, aiming to open the project section to traffic in October.

Speaking with Tien Phong reporter on the afternoon of April 24, a representative of the People's Committee of Bac Tu Liem district said that the biggest problem in the site clearance work of the project's phase 2 was arranging a resettlement area for more than 400 households in Co Nhue 2 ward. However, this has now been resolved when the City People's Committee approved the district to arrange 2.55 hectares of land in Phuc Dien ward and 4.35 hectares of land in Lien Mac ward to make a resettlement area for the households that will be relocated.

"The remaining time is 6 months, the district is urgently implementing this work and aims to complete the site clearance work for the remaining project section according to the set schedule, and open technical traffic for project section 2 from Ring Road 3 to Tay Tuu in October" - informed a representative of the People's Committee of Bac Tu Liem district.

There are currently more than 400 households located within the project area passing through Co Nhue 2 ward.

The West Thang Long route project is a key project of Hanoi city, planned as a radial route in the East - West direction connecting the center of Hanoi to Son Tay urban area and urban areas in 5 districts: Tay Ho, Bac Tu Liem, Dan Phuong, Phuc Tho.

Tay Thang Long Road consists of 5 construction sections, including: Section 1 is 2.1km long from Vo Chi Cong Street to Pham Van Dong Street through Tay Ho Tay Urban Area (already put into use); Section 2 is 3.2km long from Pham Van Dong - Ring Road 3 to Van Tien Dung Street (under construction and will be technically opened to traffic in October); Section 3 is about 3km long from Van Tien Dung Street to Tay Tuu, Thuong Cat (under construction); Section 4 is 4.9km long from Tay Tuu to Ring Road 4 (preparing for construction); Section 5 is 20km long from Ring Road 4 to Son Tay town (preparing for construction).
