Today (April 17), President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed who came to Vietnam to attend the P4G summit.

President Luong Cuong highly appreciated the participation of Ms. Amina Mohammed, thereby affirming the UN's commitment to promoting green growth, responding to global challenges, as well as to the Vietnam - UN cooperation relationship.

Vietnam always appreciates the contributions of the United Nations over the past eight decades to maintain world peace and security and promote international cooperation for sustainable development.

Sharing the vision for national development in the new period, the President asked the UN to continue supporting Vietnam in a number of priority areas, including implementing sustainable development goals, building a rule-of-law state, digital transformation, green transformation, responding to climate change and global challenges, etc.

Ms. Amina Mohammed expressed her impression of Vietnam's development achievements, affirming that the Vietnam-UN cooperation has developed well and extensively over the past five decades. The UN highly appreciates Vietnam's role and contributions and wishes to share Vietnam's successful development experience with its partners.

The Deputy Secretary-General shared a number of activities that the UN is promoting with Vietnam. Specifically, implementing the results of the Future Summit (New York, September 2024); preparing for the 2nd World Summit on Social Development; the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30); and the 4th International Conference on Finance for Development.

Receiving Ms. Amina Mohammed, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam aims to become a developed country with high income by 2045 and asked the United Nations to continue to pay attention to and support Vietnam in developing science and technology, innovation, equitable energy transition, and green economic development...

Emphasizing that Vietnam is a responsible member of the United Nations, the Prime Minister asked the UN to continue supporting ASEAN’s central role in the regional structure. Vietnam is ready to play an active role in encouraging parties to seek solutions for peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.

The UN Deputy Secretary-General highly appreciated Vietnam's leadership role in the green transition process, demonstrated through the success of the P4G conference. She expressed her impression of Vietnam's remarkable development, as well as its active participation not only in UN forums, but also in UN peacekeeping missions.

The UN hopes to continue to receive support from member states for the UN's role in solving global problems. The UN will continue to prioritize promoting investment in technology, artificial intelligence, responding to climate change, financing green growth and developing sustainable agricultural systems...
