On July 1, the Naval Region 5 Command coordinated with the People's Committee of Ca Mau province to announce the Decision on the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children".

Attending the announcement ceremony were Colonel Nguyen Huu Thoan, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 5; Comrade Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, and 60 fishermen in Nam Can and Tran Van Thoi districts (Ca Mau).
This is an activity of profound political and social significance, contributing to sharing difficulties with the families of fishermen in particularly difficult circumstances; enhancing the effectiveness of mass mobilization work, military-civilian solidarity, helping fishermen feel secure in going offshore, sticking to the sea to exploit aquatic and seafood products, and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.

Accordingly, 3 children of fishermen with extremely difficult family circumstances in the two districts of Nam Can and Tran Van Thoi (Ca Mau) were sponsored by Brigade 175, Regiment 551 (Region 5) and Factory X55, Naval Technical Department. In addition to the support of 500,000 VND/month, the sponsored unit also takes care of the children's health; ensures essential materials for daily life... suitable to the conditions of the unit and locality; encourages the children in their daily activities and studies, ensures stability in their lives and psychology until they are 18 years old.

At the announcement of the Decision, Colonel Nguyen Huu Thoan, Deputy Political Commissar of Naval Region 5, said: “Sponsoring the children of fishermen in difficult circumstances is a command from the heart. Through this, we aim to contribute to sharing the difficulties with fishermen, creating a support for fishermen to go offshore and protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. The activity is a continuation of the activities to help fishermen at sea in recent years. With the tradition of blood ties between the Navy and fishermen; the attention of the leaders of Ca Mau province, the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children" will be successful as expected".

After the announcement of the Decision, Naval Region 5 presented 3 gifts (each worth 3 million VND) to the families of fishermen whose children were adopted; Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee presented 3 gifts (each worth 1 million VND) to the families of fishermen whose children were adopted. On this occasion, Naval Region 5 also presented 60 life jackets and 200 national flags to the local fishermen.
