Previously, on June 21, Ship 251 and Ship 1141 (belonging to Ream Sea Base, Royal Cambodian Navy) coordinated to conduct joint patrol activities in the historical waters of Vietnam - Cambodia.
During the patrol, the two sides performed the greeting procedure between ASEAN naval ships (Hello ASEAN); exchanged information; practiced hand flags, lights, and whistle signals according to the International Law of Signals and used the Code of Conduct for Unplanned Encounters at Sea of Western Pacific Navies (CUES).

Lieutenant Colonel Phung Duc Huy, Deputy Brigade Commander, Chief of Staff of Brigade 127, Commander of the Vietnam Navy patrol ship, said: The 79th joint patrol took place in stormy weather conditions, big waves, and strong winds, but the two countries' naval forces overcame difficulties, properly implemented the plan and regulations on joint patrol coordination, ensuring absolute safety.

The patrol aims to maintain security, order, peace and stability in the historical waters of Vietnam and Cambodia; create favorable conditions for fishermen of the two countries to travel back and forth to catch seafood and do business according to long-standing customs and practices. At the same time, continue to consolidate and develop cooperative relations, enhance mutual understanding and trust between the two navies.
