Two Gia Lai products are protected by trademarks.

Gia Lai coffee flower honey and Krong Pa leaf tobacco are granted trademark registration certificates by the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology .

On October 11, the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai in coordination with the People's Committee of Krong Pa district organized a ceremony to announce the certificate of protection of the trademark certifying Gia Lai coffee flower honey; Krong Pa leaf tobacco.

This is the 10th product to be protected by the Intellectual Property Office, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of law enforcement and reducing intellectual property infringement in the province. Increasing the quantity and quality of intellectual property.

Gia Lai province currently has 96,000 bee colonies with nearly 300 households and 4 beekeeping facilities and businesses collecting honey from coffee flowers. The total output is 2-3,000 tons per year, accounting for 10% of the country's honey output; mainly exported to the US market (accounting for 80% of the province's total output), the rest is consumed domestically and exported to the EU market.

According to Mr. Ksor Tin, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Pa district, Krong Pa tobacco leaves are the district's key product, with an output value of 220-250 billion VND, creating jobs and a significant source of income for farmers.

By 2023, the district will have more than 2,200 hectares of tobacco. The product is highly appreciated by scientists, manufacturers and traders for its quality such as leaf size, color, oiliness, aroma... However, the consumption process still has many difficulties, lacks uniformity and has not yet fully exploited its potential.

The granting of trademark protection to Krong Pa tobacco leaves is to ensure product quality control, increase economic value and protect the legitimate interests of product manufacturers, processors and traders.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Mai, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai, said that in recent years, the department has supported and built intellectual property rights for local specialty products, through the construction of certification marks, collective marks, and geographical indications. To date, the department has supported and presided over the establishment of records for 18 local products.

At the announcement ceremony, the organizing committee also awarded certificates of rights to use the geographical indication of Gia Lai coffee and the coffee flower honey certification mark to representatives of enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities; organized a scientific seminar on management, exploitation, and promotion of intellectual property...
