Ham Thuan unexpectedly rewards collectives and individuals in disaster prevention and control

On the afternoon of November 6, the Party Committee of Ham Thuan commune, Lam Dong province held a preliminary review and drew experience in disaster prevention and control work in the commune.

The conference was chaired by comrade Nguyen Ngoc Thach, Provincial Party Committee member, Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Commune People's Council. Also attending were comrades Pham Thi To Loan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee; Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee and members of the Commune Civil Defense Command; and the executive board of the villages.

From October 25 to 30, 2025, in Ham Thuan commune, there was heavy rain, combined with flood control of Song Quao lake and Suoi Da lake, causing widespread flooding. However, thanks to timely response and flexible communication, there was no loss of life. Regarding property, 1,060 houses were flooded, 5 households had their walls collapsed and their foundations collapsed, 4 households had their houses collapsed, 3 rescue canoes were swept away and many properties, including electronic devices in the family, were damaged...

Heavy rains caused flooding in many residential areas in Ham Thuan commune.

During the race against natural disasters, the Party Committee, People's Committee and the departments and organizations of the commune have flexibly transmitted and updated the flood situation on electronic media; and deployed loudspeakers along the roads in the area to ensure that people know how to proactively prevent. Along with that, the Commune Civil Defense Command, relevant departments, agencies and units proactively "on the spot" and mobilized and organized the evacuation of 120 households/570 people affected by floods to a safe place.

In particular, the locality has promptly mobilized the fastest rescue vehicles. Requested support from the Defense Command of Region 5; Fire Prevention, Rescue and Rescue Police Department PC 07 of the Provincial Police; and more than 30 Canoes of businesses and individuals in Mui Ne and Phu Thuy wards to search for isolated areas due to flood water and bring households to safety. Organized the assignment of rescue areas, stood by at the scene of the flooded area and promptly responded flexibly to each situation.

In addition to necessities such as rice, instant noodles, drinking water, vegetables, fruits... with a total value of over 300 million VND, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee's Relief Fund account received 365 million VND as of November 4, supported by benefactors and communes in the province.

Thanks to that, up to now, 100% of households in Ham Thuan commune have returned to their homes safely. The basic traffic system is open. People's lives are gradually stabilizing, social order is guaranteed, no epidemics or hunger occur...

Through the report and comments at the conference, comrade Nguyen Ngoc Thach, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Commune People's Council highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and information and propaganda work of the forces before and during the flood. Along with that, the timely deployment of units, departments, and villages after the flood quickly cleaned up, ensuring smooth traffic and epidemic safety.

By all measures, we must ensure absolute safety of life and minimize damage to property of the people and the State.
