A series of hydroelectric reservoirs in Nghe An operate to discharge floodwaters.

The expected discharge time through the spillway is at 2:00 p.m. on May 30. The total discharge flow is from about 500m3/s to 1,200m3/s (discharge through the generators and through the spillway) and may change depending on the water flow to the lake.

At 9:22 a.m. on May 30, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense Nghe An received notice No. 131 dated May 30 from Khe Bo Hydropower Plant, regarding the operation and regulation of reservoir water. The time to end water discharge through the spillway compartment until the water flow to the lake is less than the power generation flow through the generators.

Previously, starting from 1:30 a.m. on May 30, a series of hydroelectric reservoirs in Nghe An province, including: Chau Thang Hydroelectric Reservoir (Que Phong district); Chi Khe Hydroelectric Reservoir (Con Cuong district); Nam Giai Hydroelectric Reservoir; Song Quang Hydroelectric Reservoir; Ban Coc Hydroelectric Reservoir (Que Phong district); Nam Mo Hydroelectric Reservoir (Ky Son district); Ban Ang Hydroelectric Reservoir (Tuong Duong district) operated to regulate water to ensure safety.

From the evening of May 29 to the morning of May 30, 2025, due to prolonged heavy rain, many places in the mountainous districts of Nghe An continuously experienced flash flood and landslides, causing damage to people's property.
