Reporting to VietNamNet , Mr. H. (a parent whose child is studying in class 2A6, Thanh Cong B Primary School) said that since last Friday, his child has had a stomachache, frequent diarrhea, and had to be hospitalized.
“ On the evening of October 13, my child started complaining of stomach pain and had frequent diarrhea. On Saturday, his condition got worse and his diarrhea became more difficult to control, sometimes with a slight fever. Today, October 16, after more than 2 days, my child still had diarrhea, so my husband and I decided to let him stay home from school,” said Mr. H.
“At first, the family thought it was due to unhygienic food, but today, we saw many other parents reporting that their children were experiencing similar conditions. Many students had high fevers and were constantly vomiting. About 20 students showed symptoms and 15 were taken to the hospital by their families.”
Mr. H. also said that not only the 20 students in his child's class but also other classes in the school were in the same situation. According to Mr. H., when students all had stomach aches and diarrhea, parents expressed concern that their children might have food poisoning.
“Our wish is for the school to clarify the process of managing the boarding meals, and consider whether food safety was ensured that day. At the same time, we also hope that through this incident, the school will improve its work of ensuring food hygiene and safety for students,” Mr. H. shared.

Speaking to VietNamNet on October 16, a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Ba Dinh District said that the Department had received the information. According to this person, on the afternoon of October 16, Thanh Cong B Primary School also made a quick report on the food safety incident at the school.
According to a report from Thanh Cong B Primary School, at around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday (October 15), the school received feedback from parents through the class's private group about some students showing signs of diarrhea.
Ms. Pham Minh Thao, Principal of Thanh Cong B Primary School, said that the school has reviewed and grasped the situation of students with the above phenomenon, and at the same time, instructed parents to monitor the health of students.
According to Ms. Thao, 10 students were hospitalized and by the afternoon of October 16, only 1-2 students were being monitored at the hospital and their health was currently stable.
Ms. Thao also added that it has not yet been determined whether the cause of the above incident is related to food safety at the lunch on October 13 or not.
However, the school has also invited the food poisoning investigation team from the Ba Dinh District Medical Center to coordinate with the catering unit to clarify the cause and agent of poisoning, if any. At the same time, the school also assigned the task to homeroom teachers of each class to monitor the health reports of students, especially students who visit the hospital (if the problem continues to arise).
