Small actions, big impact.

In the context of environmental pollution becoming a global challenge, the younger generation, including university students in Thai Nguyen province, is gradually asserting their role and responsibility through "Green Club" models. These clubs are becoming inspiring communities, promoting green lifestyles and spreading practical actions for a sustainable future.

In recent years, the term "Green Club" has become familiar to university and college students in the province. These clubs bring together students who share a common interest in environmental issues. Members of these clubs share a common goal: a deep awareness of the urgent need to act against the negative impacts of environmental pollution, plastic waste, and climate change on ecosystems and human life.

At the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Thai Nguyen University), the Green Planet Club has made its mark with its widespread activities. Currently, the club has 72 official members and 171 active collaborators.

Nguyen Tuan Hung, a member of the club, shared: "I always feel proud to be part of a group full of enthusiasm, who love nature and are always ready to act for the environment. For me, the club is not only a place to carry out environmental protection programs but also a true family, where we learn, share, and grow…"

The sense of responsibility, solidarity, and desire to contribute are clearly demonstrated through the club's diverse activities, such as Green Day, Green Sunday, Earth Hour, waste sorting workshops, and the "environmental protection class" program.

The "Exchange Trash for Trees" program is usually organized by the club at the beginning or end of each semester, taking place in the school's central campus, where students can easily access it. The organizing committee designs tables for receiving and sorting plastic waste, and decorates the space with greenery and eye-catching environmental awareness posters.

Students participating can bring plastic bottles, cans, old batteries, scrap paper, or sorted recyclable waste to exchange for lovely little potted plants such as succulents, cacti, pothos, or easy-to-grow herbs like basil and mint.

Meanwhile, at the University of Science (Thai Nguyen University), the Green Environment Club currently has 65 members and is one of the most active and influential units in the student community.

Established with the goal of preserving and improving the school environment in a "green, clean, and beautiful" direction, the club maintains regular weekly activities, attracting the consistent participation of dozens of official members and many volunteer collaborators.

Nguyen Ngoc Lam, Vice President of the Green Environment Club (University of Science), said: In addition to thematic sessions on environment, climate, renewable energy, and waste sorting, the club also organizes many practical and creative programs such as: collecting old books and clothes to support students in mountainous areas; a program to exchange old batteries for new ones to reduce hazardous waste; creating videos to raise awareness about the environment; and actively participating in cultural and artistic activities such as art performances and exhibitions of propaganda paintings on the theme of environment and sustainable development.

Beyond simply spreading the message of environmental protection, the Green Environment Club's programs also aim to build green and responsible living habits within the student community.

Club members regularly share tips on recycling school supplies, organize a "plastic-free week" on campus, and coordinate with relevant agencies to organize clean-up campaigns around the lake, classrooms, dormitories, and parking areas.

From simple gatherings, Green Clubs are gradually growing and playing a significant role in educating, communicating, and promoting environmental action within the student community.

Each activity, though small, is carried out with heart and responsibility, contributing to raising awareness and consciousness about environmental protection among young people. The clubs help nurture generations of students who are not only knowledgeable but also responsible towards society, nature, and their own future…
