DHG Pharma's journey of sowing love and bringing warmth to Lao Cai

(Dan Tri) - DHG Pharma accompanies the charity program "Warm sunshine from pills", continuing the journey "Strong transformation - Steadfast steps to reach far".

Bringing healthcare closer to the highlands

Ta Cu Ty, a highland commune in Bac Ha district, is home to mainly ethnic minorities. After the storm, there was a shortage of medicine and medical conditions were severely affected.

Understanding that, DHG Pharma mobilized 30 doctors and pharmacists from general internal medicine, pediatrics, nutrition, ear, nose and throat, and dermatology, bringing thousands of pills and medical equipment to carry out the mission of "bringing healthcare closer to people in the highlands".

According to the delegation representative, the goal of the trip is not only to treat illnesses but also to convey trust and help people better understand health care after natural disasters.

Bringing warm sunshine to Ta Cu Ty

The road to Ta Cu Ty is winding, with many landslides that can only fit one wheel, but the volunteer group still persevered to get through in time to bring "warm sunshine" to the land that is suffering a lot of loss.

From early morning, hundreds of people gathered in front of the clinic, including many elderly people, pregnant women and children.

During the day, the team examined and consulted more than 1,000 people, far exceeding the initial target, including 700 adults and 300 children. People had their blood pressure measured, had ultrasounds, had their nutrition checked and were given treatment advice appropriate to local conditions.

In addition, 1,000 essential medicines prepared by DHG Pharma were delivered to the people. These included more than 50 types of medicines to treat flu, respiratory infections, skin diseases, digestive diseases and blood pressure - common diseases after floods.

Thanks to the support of local authorities, doctors and volunteers have carried out examination, medicine distribution and consultation activities thoughtfully and compassionately.

“What moved us the most was not the number of people coming for check-ups, but the grateful eyes of the people when the doctors asked them questions with care. For DHG Pharma, that is the true value of the pills,” Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan said emotionally.

Early detection of diseases, sharing health concerns in highland areas

Through examination, the team noted that malnutrition is a common problem, especially in young children. Many children weigh only half the standard weight for their age. Therefore, the doctors have instructed parents to supplement nutrition by using eggs, vegetables, beans, etc. appropriately in their daily meals.

In adults, the prominent diseases are cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and digestive disorders, which account for a high proportion due to daily drinking habits.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Hong (National Institute for Control of Vaccines and Biologicals - Ministry of Health ), many chronic diseases are getting younger in the highlands. Many people in their early 30s have high blood pressure and chronic gastritis. Propaganda to change living habits is very necessary.

The team also discovered many cases that needed timely medical intervention, including a patient with blood pressure over 200mmHg who was treated on the spot and the case of Anh Tho (4 years old) with soft tissue infection, who was instructed to be transferred to a higher level for treatment on the same day.

In addition, 500 rapid blood sugar tests were performed, detecting more than 10 cases of suspected diabetes, helping people become more aware of regular health monitoring.

The charity trip ended with more than 1,000 people being examined, given medicine and consultation, hundreds of gifts were given, and a series of touching stories between doctors and people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh - Vice Chairman of Ta Cu Ty Commune People's Committee expressed: "Ta Cu Ty is a mountainous commune with 1,164 households, of which 38% are poor households. People are very excited to be examined, receive medicine and gifts from the program. When health is the seed of hope

When the sunset covered Ta Cu Ty hill, the volunteer group returned, bringing smiles, thanks and warm handshakes from the highland people. For DHG Pharma, for more than half a century, each pill has been the result of scientific research, for the health of the community.
