Since the age of 3, spinal muscular atrophy has weakened Mai Xuan Trieu's legs, and the wheelchair has become his second pair of legs. However, that has never dimmed Trieu's desire to learn and conquer knowledge.
At the examination site of Binh An Secondary School (District 8) on the morning of June 5, amidst the bustling atmosphere of 10th grade exam procedures, the image of Mai Xuan Trieu moving in a wheelchair strongly inspired the spirit of love of learning and the will to overcome difficulties.
Like many other candidates, the male student was excited and nervous before an important exam. His mother took him to the exam site by motorbike, then his friends and teachers helped him move into the exam room.
Over the years, despite being "friends" with a wheelchair, Trieu has always maintained an optimistic spirit and made constant efforts to study.

Ms. Vo Thi Kim Huong, mother of Mai Xuan Trieu, could not hide her emotion and pride as her child was about to complete a stage in her student life.
“She cannot attend extra classes like her friends, but she studies very hard on her own and has been an excellent student for many years. As a mother, I love her very much, but I am also very proud that she always tries to overcome her fate,” Ms. Huong shared with tears in her eyes.
Ms. Huong said that during the past school years, Trieu was loved wholeheartedly by teachers and friends, some of whom even volunteered to carry him to and from class every day.
"I am so grateful for this," the mother said emotionally.
Trieu said he placed his first choice at Hung Vuong High School (District 5), a school near his mother's workplace for convenient pick-up and drop-off.
Although he couldn't go to extra classes these past few days, he studied a lot on his own. There were days when he studied until midnight and continued going to school the next morning.
“Last year in 9th grade, I was an excellent student. However, I was still a bit nervous and worried,” Trieu excitedly expressed.
On the threshold of the important exam, Trieu expressed his most sincere gratitude to his family, friends, and teachers - those who have accompanied him.
To ensure that Trieu could complete the exam in the most convenient way, Mr. Pho Trong Huy, Vice Chairman of the Examination Council of Binh An Secondary School, said that the examination site had arranged for someone to assist him in moving to the examination room, as Trieu wished to take the exam in the arranged room.
