HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (HVS) is a joint venture between HD Hyundai Mipo (Korea) and Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, established in 1996.

Starting from ship repair, the company successfully switched to building completely new ships in 2008. Up to now, HVS has built and delivered 181 ships, including cargo ships with a capacity of up to 87,000 tons, oil tankers up to 115,000 tons for customers in: Italy, Japan, Korea, Belgium, Singapore...

In March 2024, HVS and Union Maritime (UK) signed a contract to build two 115,000DWT dual-fuel LNG tankers. Each ship will be equipped with two additional Windwing sail-shaped devices to support the exploitation of wind energy. These two ships are expected to start construction in the second half of 2026. This milestone will open a new step for HVS, accompanying the world trend through environmentally friendly products.

“HVS always strives to bring satisfaction to customers by building the best quality ships and delivering them on time,” affirmed an HVS representative.

With the support of its parent company - HD Hyundai Mipo Shipyard, Korean experts and more than 5,000 highly skilled Vietnamese employees, HVS is aiming to expand its facilities and capacity. The company aims to increase productivity to 23 ships/year by 2030 and diversify into other types of ships in the future such as: environmentally friendly dual fuel ships, container ships, fruit juice carriers, multi-purpose ships, maritime support ships, etc.

In addition to production and business activities, HVS has been actively carrying out social responsibilities. Charitable activities and contributions to society such as: sponsoring scholarships for poor but studious students, building charity houses, supporting people affected by floods, participating in the program to remove temporary and dilapidated houses in Khanh Hoa province, repainting schools and shelters in the locality, visiting and giving gifts to social protection facilities in the area... are being actively carried out by the company, contributing to the development of the province.
