Hien Luong is a locality with great potential and strengths in agricultural and forestry production. However, the scale of economic models remains small-scale, and the transformation of crop and livestock structures is slow, leading to low economic efficiency. Recognizing the difficulties and limitations of the locality, the commune encourages people to promote development towards commodity production and value chains; developing livestock farming on a family farm and large-scale farm basis, linked with the application of scientific and technological advancements in production. Following the policy of encouraging commodity production development from the local Party committee and government, people have boldly invested in production development.
One exemplary model is the commercial snail farming of Mr. Nguyen Duc Phong in Zone 10, Xuan Ang. On a 1,500m² pond, Mr. Phong renovated the embankment system to create ponds for breeding and commercial snail farming. He said: "Snails are easy to raise, rarely get sick, and utilize natural food sources." Each year, his family sells about 2 tons of snails, earning over 100 million VND. Besides selling commercial snails, he also supplies breeding stock to other villagers, creating an additional stable source of income.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Phong's snail farming model in Zone 10, Xuan Ang, provides him with a stable income.
In parallel, the beekeeping model of Mr. Do Giang Nam's household is also yielding economic benefits. Utilizing the hillside area, Mr. Nam invested in raising 20 bee colonies. Thanks to proper care and seasonal harvesting, he harvests 200 liters of honey each year, earning nearly 100 million VND. Mr. Nam shared: "Beekeeping doesn't cost much, has low risks, and is environmentally friendly. The important thing is to choose a suitable location for the bee colonies, near a source of flowers, and maintain good hygiene to ensure stable colony growth."
Comrade Nguyen Anh Quoc - Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, said: Diverse economic models such as beekeeping and snail farming have shown the dynamism and creativity of the people in developing production. The commune encourages the replication of models suitable to local conditions, while coordinating with specialized departments to open technical training classes and guide people in linking product consumption to ensure stable output. In addition, the commune focuses on guiding people to access preferential policies to invest in production development, prioritizing the development of crops and livestock with strengths. It encourages the establishment of cooperatives and production groups to enable people to link production and promote agricultural development towards concentrated commodity production.
Currently, many households in Hien Luong are continuing to expand the model of raising snails and bees for honey production in conjunction with fruit tree cultivation. These models not only help diversify income sources but also create a closed, environmentally friendly value chain, aiming for sustainable agricultural development.

Taking advantage of his family's hilly land, Mr. Do Giang Nam raises 20 bee colonies, earning nearly 100 million VND annually.
The construction, development, and replication of effective economic models have significantly contributed to achieving economic development goals and improving the quality of life for people in the area. The average per capita income of the commune is estimated to reach 55.5 million VND by the end of 2025; the poverty rate will decrease to 3.93%, and the near-poverty rate to 3.75%...
Hien Luong today is sporting a new look. The effectiveness of economic models has affirmed the correct direction in the local production transformation process, opening up prospects for Hien Luong to become a new rural commune in the near future.
