Principal explains spending nearly 200 million VND of parent fund during the school year

Recently, on the social network Facebook, there was a post about the revenue and expenditure of Hai Thanh A Primary School, Hai Thanh Ward (Nghi Son Town, Thanh Hoa ). The content mentioned, some parents were upset about the parent contribution fund, but it was to serve the school's purpose.

According to the reflection, the parent fund must pay the following amounts: Money to buy student desks and chairs for the 2024-2025 school year; drum money; money to install the electrical system; money to replace window glass; money to tile the stage; money to repair the water pipe system; money to buy a water tank... totaling more than 103 million VND.

In addition, parents also have to pay a parent fund of more than 81 million VND. This includes expenses such as: 3 million VND for tea at the parent executive committee meeting; 4.8 million VND for tea at the school-wide parent meeting; money to support excellent students in exams, and bonuses of up to 7 million VND...

Speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Ms. Le Thi Quy, Principal of Hai Thanh A Primary School, said that after learning about the information posted on social networks, she was very surprised.

The next day, the school sent a report to Nghi Son Town People's Committee, Department of Education and Training, and Hai Thanh Ward People's Committee.

According to Ms. Quy's explanation, the amount of 103 million VND is socialized money, not parent fund money. The school has developed a plan to mobilize funding for facilities for the 2024-2025 school year. The plan has been approved by the People's Committee of Hai Thanh Ward and the Department of Education and Training of Nghi Son Town.

"After the funds were raised, the school carried out a number of items as planned and had complete exhibits, documents, and records," said Ms. Quy.

Regarding the parent fund, at the beginning of the school year, parents planned to agree with the school to set up a fund for the parent-teacher association and raised 81,220,000 VND.

This fund covers the activities of the committee as well as supporting the activities of students during the school year. Spending money on drinks for the parent-teacher meeting is practical, because the school has 1,034 students with 24 classes, spending an average of 200,000 VND/class.

Parents support students' training for excellent sports competitions at the town and provincial levels in the 2024-2025 school year and support rewards for students with achievements at the end of the school year... all collection and payment contents are done by parents.

“During the parent meeting on May 23, the school printed out the income and expenditure for each class. If it wasn’t transparent, we wouldn’t have printed it out like that,” Ms. Quy said.

Mr. Mai Sy Lan, Vice Chairman of Nghi Son Town People's Committee, said that he had grasped the matter and assigned the Department of Education and Training to work with Hai Thanh Commune People's Committee and Hai Thanh A Primary School.

"Currently, the units have reported on the incident. The Department of Education and Training is synthesizing it to report to the town leaders according to regulations," Mr. Lan informed.
