Rewarding students
On November 12th, Mr. Le Hong Thai, the principal of Phan Van Tri Primary School in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, wrote an open letter to parents, benefactors , and partners stating that he would not accept flowers or gifts on November 20th.
Instead, Mr. Thai requested that the school reward the students with notebooks, milk, and sports equipment instead of flowers and gifts.
The open letter stated: "Every year, on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20th, the school receives many congratulatory flower arrangements. However, these flowers are only used for a few days before being discarded, which is very wasteful."
This year, due to the challenging economic situation, through this open letter, the school respectfully requests that generous benefactors , businesses, and organizations, instead of giving flowers, please donate notebooks, milk, and sports equipment so that the school can reward the students.
This November, the school's main activities include the Illustrated Book Storytelling Contest and the Phan Van Tri Challenge 2024. The goal of these activities is to help students develop comprehensively in terms of intellect, physical fitness, and aesthetics.
The school sincerely hopes to receive support and contributions from generous benefactors , businesses, and organizations to provide practical gifts and direct support for the children in developing their intellect, physical abilities, and artistic talents, encouraging them to confidently participate in beneficial activities.
Every contribution, big or small, is a source of motivation for us and our students on their journey of intellectual and character development."
Educational significance
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , teacher Le Hong Thai said that to celebrate November 20th this year, the school organized many activities such as illustrated book storytelling, sports competitions, painting, decorating conical hats, decorating piggy banks, etc.
The competitions were enthusiastically participated in by students, teachers, and parents alike.
An open letter from Phan Van Tri Primary School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, requests that no flowers or gifts be accepted on November 20th (Teachers' Day).
"However, the school's budget only allows for awarding certificates of merit to the students. The thought is that the bouquets of flowers sent by organizations and businesses will also wither. This would be a waste, especially since Phan Van Tri School is facing many difficulties."
Therefore, the school wishes to convert the flowers and gifts given on November 20th into milk, notebooks, and sports equipment to reward the students.
"This conversion serves both to educate students about saving money and to motivate them, contributing to the school's efforts to build a happy school environment," Mr. Thai emphasized.
